3D Printed Orthoses
MM Podiatry supplies 3D printed custom orthotics using a repeatable process to give you a precise result with every pair.
What Do Foot Orthotics Do in Lower Limb Care?
Foot orthoses modify how load passes through the foot and lower limb, reducing the mechanical demand on injured tissue. They don’t correct foot alignment or restore tissue capacity.
That’s why we believe that bespoke orthotics are where your patient’s recovery starts, not where it ends.
When prescribed as part of MM Podiatry’s integrated lower limb MSK system — with structured rehabilitation to restore tissue capacity and a supervised return to activity to prove that capacity holds — they create the conditions for comprehensive, lasting recovery.
What Are 3D Printed Orthotics – and Why Should I Order From MM Podiatry?
Our 3D printing technology builds the orthotic shell layer by layer based on your clinical findings. Using 3D printing gives us repeatable results, with precise control over thickness, stiffness, and geometry.
Our orthotic shells can be printed in different density TPU, polypropylene (PP) and carbon fibre. Top covers are selected to match the clinical requirement. For example:
- PORON — durable shock attenuation for high-activity patients and sport.
- PLASTAZOTE — moulds to foot contours and spreads load for diabetic or high-risk presentations.
- LUNATEC MOTION — reduces shear forces where shear is the primary concern.
“Since moving to MM Podiatry, the consistency and quality of the 3D‑printed orthotics have been excellent, reliably reducing pathological tissue loading and giving us the stable mechanical foundation we need for rehab.” – Marie Young, Senior Podiatrist & Practice Owner, Allerton Road Foot Clinic, Liverpool
How Do I Prescribe an MM Podiatry Orthotic?
There are three routes to prescribe a 3D printed orthotic with MM Podiatry. You choose which fits your confidence level and caseload.
- By Pathology — You select the presentation and receive an evidence-informed device recommendation. No need to specify every parameter.
- By Device Type — You choose from core device families (e.g., Control, Control +, Sports). Ideal for clinicians with a clear prescribing rationale.
- Fully Bespoke — You build the orthotic from your clinical findings, specifying every parameter. You have full control over shell profile, posting, additions, and top cover. Collaborative review available.
Complete the online prescription form (integrates with Cliniko, Jane, SimplePractice, and Power Diary), send your foam impression / slipper cast by post, and receive your device within ten working days. Orthotics start at £75 per pair for your first order/s.
Before Your First Order
Before you place your first 3D printed orthotic order…
Do orthotics correct alignment?
No. Orthotics modify how forces pass through the foot and lower limb; they do not correct alignment. Alone, orthotics cannot restore the tissue’s capacity to handle that load. Prescribed as part of a complete system — with structured rehabilitation to restore tissue capacity and a supervised return to activity to prove that capacity holds — a bespoke orthotic is where recovery starts, not where it ends.
Can I send digital scans?
Yes. MM Podiatry accepts digital scans alongside foam impression boxes and slipper casts.
What is the turnaround time for an MM Podiatry 3D printed orthotic?
Turnaround time is ten working days from complete order approval to dispatch.
What if the device needs adjusting?
Minor adjustments — covers, pads, wedges — can be made chairside. If the shell needs changing, we will update the design file and reprint. A 60-day clinical fit guarantee covers one redesign and reprint if needed.
Is there a minimum order volume?
There is no minimum volume requirement.
Can I run a case past you before ordering?
Yes. Send a brief case summary and we give an honest view on whether a bespoke device is indicated before you commit to prescribing.
Are outcomes tracked after an orthotic is prescribed?
Every order triggers an automated eight-week clinician follow-up and a six-month patient follow-up, so the outcomes from every device you prescribe are captured and recorded without additional admin on your part.
