Mark McKeever
The MSK podiatrist behind MM Podiatry.
A practising lower limb MSK podiatrist with twelve years of clinical experience across NHS and private practice — and the founder of MM Podiatry.
Who is Mark McKeever?
Mark qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry from the University of Huddersfield in 2014, before completing an MSc in Lower Limb Musculoskeletal Studies at Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2020. His NHS career has spanned adult and paediatric podiatry, paediatric rheumatology, and biomechanical specialist roles — a breadth of caseload that informs how he thinks about lower limb MSK across the lifespan.
Alongside his NHS work, Mark has practised throughout as a private MSK specialist podiatrist. Private practice gave him the freedom to develop skills beyond the standard scope: gait analysis, level 3 personal training, and level 4 strength and conditioning.
In 2021-2022, he spent twelve months as a paid academic at Salford University, specialising in MSK on the Podiatry course.
In his spare time, Mark is an avid runner and cyclist, and has experience dealing with injuries of his own. He is also a dad who wants to stay healthy enough to keep up with two young boys.
Why did Mark McKeever create MM Podiatry?
Over more than a decade in lower limb MSK practice, the same pattern kept appearing. Patients arrived with orthotics they had been wearing for years, unable to explain what the device was doing or why their problem had never fully resolved.
Their care had stopped at the device. Nobody had addressed the tissue capacity. Nobody had structured their return to activity.
The tools to do better all existed. The evidence was there. What was missing was a system that connected them in a way a busy clinician could actually use.
MM Podiatry is that system.
““Nothing we are doing here is new. But this is the first time orthotics, rehab and return-to-activity have been brought together into one integrated system, designed to take patients all the way from injury to full, durable recovery” – Mark McKeever, Founder of MM Podiatry
What is Mark’s approach to orthotic prescribing and lower limb care?
In clinical practice, Mark takes a clear, straightforward approach, and he has carried this philosophy through to MM Podiatry, which offers a simple, effective, evidence-informed way for busy clinicians to guide their patients from injury back to activity.
Load management is the answer to almost every clinical question in lower limb MSK care. How much load is the tissue being asked to handle, and does it have the capacity to handle it?
A custom orthotic modifies the load environment. Rehabilitation rebuilds the tissue’s capacity to handle that load. Structured return to activity confirms that capacity holds.
It’s as simple as that.
Mark McKeever FAQs
Questions clinicians ask about Mark McKeever…
Is MM Podiatry run by a practising clinician?
Yes. Mark prescribes the orthotics he manufactures and uses them himself. Clinical support and prescription review are offered directly — not through a third-party advisory team.
Does Mark still practise clinically?
Yes. MM Podiatry is built alongside active clinical practice, not instead of it. The clinical reasoning behind the system is informed by current patient caseload, not past experience.
